Day 20 The Shifting Woods

My sketch drawing for day 20 of EqD's second NATG: transforming ponies.


After eating, the party continues towards the Shifting Woods, hoping to get through well before night fall.


"Hold it! There's something up ahead!"

"Ohmygosh is that what I think it is? This is incredible! I didn't think there were any of these left!"

"Um, Twilight, not that I'm alarmed by great hulking shapes moving about in the dark, but, well, how do I put this? You kind of failed to inform us about just how dark it would be in here and well I'm rather alarmed."

"You've been in the Everfree before Rarity, I just assumed..-"

"Twilight, we're not in trouble, are we?"

"Trouble? Come on Applebloom, we have Rainbow Dash! Right Rainbow?"

"Uh, yeah..."

A challenging theme approaches! To crack this one I had to go back and borrow the exotic pony theme from Day 14. I knew I'd possibly be doing inside the forest next, so lots of trees to work with. The end result, treeponies, ponies that transform into trees!

I have this feeling I've seen something like this before somewhere. Ents are definitely not original, nor are things with trees growing out of their backs. Oh well.

I call that one, Silver Palm.

That's two OCs spawned from this story. (the first one was Chalice on Day 3) Perhaps there'll be more.



As for imagey stuff, I've toyed with the brightness on this one for effect, that's really the main thing. Does it look worse or-? Oh god, I just realised I've just created nightmare fuel. T~T

And now I'm creeped out.

I'll stick the contrast version in my scraps with the Day 10 one so you can optionally creep out too.

And now this version looks scary to me as well. Depending on feedback I can replace it with a regular brightness version.
